Why was Sam Altman kicked out from OpenAI? It's all about the Gratitude issue.

Five months ago, during his visit to India, Sam Altman took the stage at a crucial business conference. His words on AI and the tech industry were not just thought-provoking—they were scathing. He didn’t hold back, comparing India’s tech startup ecosystem unfavorably to OpenAI and dismissing their potential to create something akin to ChatGPT. This challenge thrown at the leading figures of India, like Rajan Anandan, sparked a determination to showcase India’s technological prowess.

Reflecting on Altman’s comments, I posted on LinkedIn about the responsibility visionary leaders like him have toward their supporters, investors, and the tech community, especially after securing billions from Microsoft—an entity known for swallowing up startups and their identities.

Returning to 2015, Altman stood at the forefront of OpenAI’s inception, touting a vision of a non-profit dedicated to crafting and overseeing AI and cutting-edge technologies. However, things took a strange turn. Altman pivoted OpenAI to compete with giants like Google and Microsoft. More recently, he played a key role in sidelining Elon Musk, who opposed releasing ChatGPT without regulation.

Extend the same level of GRATITUDE to the investor who played a pivotal role in building your startup when you secured your initial funding from them.

2022 marked the ascendancy of ChatGPT and the fame of Sam Altman, showcasing a shift in his demeanor from board meetings to press interviews and public speaking. While he inked a deal with Microsoft, the same individual who once vehemently opposed Google and Microsoft for disregarding regulations in their cutting-edge technologies

Conclusion

When fame and billions appear before a leader, it’s crucial not to overlook the essence of “Embracing Gratitude”.
