Meta just launched paid verification feature for Facebook and Instagram. The program is called “Meta Verified” and it is currently available only in the United States. With the paid feature users will get a Blue verified badge with exclusive stars which can be used for extra stickers in stories and reels. When it comes to pricing it will be $12/month for web access and $15/month for app users. The app price hike is because of Apple’s huge app store commission policy.
Meta launched the beta program last month in Australia and New Zealand and to get a verified badge users should submit their govt ids with their full name which will be verified by the Meta team and the existing verified users can keep using their profiles without any hassle.
As a common man, my question to the Meta team is “How safe is my data when I submit my govt ids to avail of this paid subscription?
