As the expectation for this year’s iPhone 15 series is increasing, leading Apple insider ShrimpApplePro has shared a series of leaks about the iPhone 15. Though pricing is going to get higher for all variants, Apple has decided to move their charging port to UBS-C with a new technology cable. The new charging cable will be powered with MFi – Made for iPhone, iPad, and iPod.
Apple has already launched USB-C powered iPad and Macbook series without MFi powered, but it’s unclear what made Apple move with this strategy. We are sure Apple will come up with some marketing gimmicks to brand this new technology cable but we will list down what we so far know about this cable.
What is an MFi Powered cable?
MFi-powered cable is slightly different from normal USB-C cable and it will enable fast charging and data transfer it comes with an official Apple retail licensing program with a royalty of between $3-$5 per connection. Still an official statement to be clarified on this. This time Apple will go stricter with pop-up notification warning owners if they use an unlicensed accessory is connected. As you all know Apple moving to USB-C is all because of recent EU commission orders but we have to wait and see how the lawmakers are going to like the MFi-powered cables.
